About This Coin
NAIDOC Week, observed annually from the first Sunday in July, celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture, and achievements. Its origins date back to the 1920s, when early Indigenous rights groups began advocating for better conditions and recognition. This was followed in 1938, when Indigenous leaders organised the Day of Mourning, protesting the treatment of Indigenous Australians.
NAIDOC Week provides an opportunity for all Australians to engage with and celebrate the world’s oldest continuous living cultures. Join us in recognising this significant occasion, symbolising unity, resilience, and the ongoing journey towards recognition and reconciliation in Australia.
