About This Coin
The pivotal moment of his career came in 1974 when he appeared on stage at an Adelaide hotel to sing with up-and coming AC/DC.
Bon discovered an immediate affinity with the band’s Scottish-born co-founders, Angus and Malcolm Young. Becoming a fully-fledged member in September that year, his inimitable stage presence and distinctive, raspy vocals were key elements in the band’s rise to international super stardom. Bon was also a gifted lyricist whose powerful lines worked perfectly with the Young brothers’ aggressive guitar riffs.
Aged 33, Bon Scott passed away in 1980 having made seven albums with AC/DC. He has never been forgotten. Adored by fans old and new, many believe him to be the greatest rock ‘n roll singer of all time. His legendary status lives on and continues to grow.
The coin’s reverse portrays a coloured image of Bon Scott wearing a denim jacket with cut off sleeves. The design includes the inscription ‘BON SCOTT’ in which the first ‘O’ is overlain with a ‘lion rampant’ holding a microphone, and a representation of ‘Bon’ in handwritten lettering. Also within the design is The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
Each coin is presented in a special themed shipper and accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity.
