In the future this coin imagines, bees have become extinct and humanity has answered with bionic bees. The Queen Bee is the protagonist of this 5oz silver coin, plated in pure 24-carat gold: the primadonna of the hive, the one mother who suppresses the fertility of the workers and lays up to 2,000 eggs a day. Her chemical signals keep the colony united. Without her, order breaks down and the hive dies.

On the reverse, the hive emerges through a play of reliefs, finishes and metals. Workers move through silver cells, black Proof cells and gold-plated cells, while honey flows from the cells and becomes 24-carat gold. One body breaks the rule within the hive's geometry: the Queen, longer and larger than the rest. On the obverse, the Public Seal of Niue becomes the centre of a programmed evolution, where a small gold hexagon expands, takes shape and becomes a bee, alongside the inscriptions 'QUEEN BEE', '2026' and '$20'.
