About This Coin

Australians have developed some nifty inventions over the years, some of which have been adopted across the world. Celebrating our innovation and creativity, Bright Ideas features five of Australia’s best-known inventions.

1. Stump jump plough (Richard Smith, 1876)
2. Black box flight recorder (Dr David Warren, 1953)
3. Jaffle maker (Dr Ernest Smithers, 1949, later reimagined by Breville in 1974)
4. Safe-n-Sound Baby Safety Capsule (Bill Bowtell, Bob Heath and Colin Nagel)
5. High-speed WLAN technology (CSIRO, 1990s)

Each set comes with a coin tube holding five $1 uncirculated coins and a collection folder to display them.
