About This Coin
Queen Elizabeth II was born on 21 April 1926 and ascended the throne in 1952 at the age of 25, following the death of her father, King George VI. She married Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, in 1947, and together they had four children. Her reign spanned 70 years, making her the longest-serving monarch in British history.
In 2026, the world commemorates what would have been her 100th birthday—celebrating a life of service, dignity and devotion to her country and the Commonwealth.
The coin’s reverse features a stylised representation of the commemorative florin issued in 1954 to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s first visit to Australia. It showcases a lion and a kangaroo standing side by side, a powerful symbol of the enduring bond between the United Kingdom and Australia.
Both the lion and kangaroo, as well as the coin’s outer rim are gilded in 24-carat gold. Surrounding the design is the inscription “H.M. QUEEN ELIZABETH II 100th ANNIVERSARY”, accompanied by stylised dots, the 2026 year-date, and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
