The coin takes the shape of the Top Gun logo, a 1oz silver release marking 40 years since the film first soared into theatres in 1986. The coloured reverse shows the logo's bold design, with the inscriptions '1986*2026' to the left and '40 YEARS' to the right beneath it, along with The Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark. The obverse carries the Jody Clark effigy of King Charles III with the coin's weight, fineness, monetary denomination and 2026 year-date, and the wing pattern from the Top Gun logo appears on both sides of the effigy.
