The trout is caught mid-leap, breaking the surface in full colour with an angler working the water behind it. It is a lively scene and the colour carries it: pinks, golds, blues and greens running through the fish, with the red stripe from gill to tail that gives the species its name.

Crown-sized at 38.60mm, struck from 1oz of 99.9% silver to a proof finish, which gives the design the space it needs. The obverse carries Jody Clark's portrait of King Charles III.

Rainbow trout are native to the cold-water tributaries of the Pacific, across North America and Asia, and they are among the most sought-after sport fish anywhere. Anyone who has spent a morning on a river will know why this one appeals.

Only 500 have been struck. Each comes in a case with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
