In 1977 both Voyager probes left Earth carrying a gold-plated phonograph record: greetings in fifty-five languages, music from across the world, birdsong, whale song, and a pulsar map showing where the record came from. Both are still travelling. Neither will reach another star system for tens of thousands of years.

This coin renders that record on 1oz of silver. Smartminting technology lifts the grooves, the diagrams and the pulsar coordinates into fine relief, and gold plating returns the disc to the colour of the original. The background is partly coloured and worked with a grunge texture, so the record reads as something already long in transit rather than newly made.
